Key For Santa

Every year I get a TON of questions about Santa. My kids are very curious little people. But since moving into our new house, the question I’ve been getting most often is:

“How will Santa bring us presents if we don’t have a chimney?”

It’s quite the issue at our house, and honestly, I just don’t know what to tell the kids anymore. So I came up with this little idea to leave Santa a “magic key” so he can get into our house and bring presents.

I found these little keys for a dollar at Michael’s, but you could probably find them anywhere. I bought a whole bunch and I’m sending them, with a letter from the North Pole, to all my nieces and nephews who don’t have a chimney.

In the letter, I made sure to make the following points clear:

* This is a MAGIC key for Santa. Only for Santa. It won’t work to let anyone else in the house.

* Make sure to leave the key outside on Christmas Eve so Santa can get in.

* If the child has an “elf on the shelf”, I made sure to mention their elf’s name.

I hope this will be a fun tradition that my kids look forward to every year. I can’t wait to see their excitement when they get this key in the mail (yes, I’m mailing my own kids a key for Santa too).

  1. This is one reason you get the best aunt award! Luke was so thrilled to get a magic key! It hangs on our Christmas tree and he will put it out on Christmas Eve so Santa can come in. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your creativity!
