I am so excited to show you guys how I took this simple potted plant and gave it some extra personality! It only took me a few minutes to dress this baby up, and I love the way my decorated pot turned out with that fun plant inside! It really is SO quick and easy to do. And that pink and gold combo? It has stolen my heart!

Have you guys noticed the color pink popping up all over home decor magazines and blogs? I used to be a little scared to use pink in my home- being careful to keep it in my daughter’s room. But lately I’ve branched out a little bit and started using pink in the main living areas of my home, and I love it! It’s so bright and fun. This fun plant is a Colorful Aglaonema from Costa Farms. Doesn’t it look so perfect in my decorated pot? It went from plain and simple to super cool in just a few minutes.

The difference in the before and after is really fun!

For this project, you’ll need:

Red Aglaonema Plant– you can find these at Home Depot or Walmart.
Pink Pot- mine came with my plant
Gold Paint Marker– I had really good results with this one from BIC.

You can draw any design on your pot that you want. For mine, I started by drawing horizontal lines. My pot had a swirl pattern on it already, so I just followed that line with my marker.

Then I started drawing V’s between the lines.  Yes, I freehanded it. But don’t let that scare you! Part of the charm of this project is the perfect-imperfection of the design.

And that’s it! You can do any design you want. I think I’m going to try some hand lettering next.

I just love the way this plant- and that cute pot look in my living room!
