DIY Homework Station

School starts for my little ones next week. My son is in first grade this year, and is going to start having homework. I’m not sure how I feel about homework… but like it or not, it’s coming! So I might as well be prepared for it. I decided to set up a little homework station so it’s easier for all of us when it’s time to do homework. It’ll be so much easier for the kids to do their homework if they have a spot to do it. My kids tested out the homework station today, and they LOVED it!

Since we don’t have an office or really any place to set up a dedicated desk for homework, this homework station works really well for our family. I can set it out when it’s time for homework, and move it off the table for dinnertime. It looks so colorful and cute on my kitchen table, I think I might just leave it there as a school-time centerpiece!

I simply used one of my planter box centerpieces (which cost less than 8 dollars to build), and filled it up with buckets of school supplies I found at Office Max.

My kids love to draw with Sharpies (and so do I), so we filled one bucket with Sharpies.

We filled the next bucket with mechanical pencils and bright colored pens- another one for me! (these injoy pens are my absolute favorite!)

Our homework station also includes a dry erase board, and some expo dry erase markers.

My kids love using the dry erase markers to practice their letters. And they don’t freak out if they do a letter wrong; they just erase it and start over again!

We also have some scissors and glue, and a couple of notebooks (which are a steal at Office Max right now!)

This homework station is SUPER convenient. My kids love it and so do I!

I am so happy with how my homework station turned out. I’m excited to (hopefully) keep the homework situation under control this year.

And guess what? Single Sharpies are $.25 this week (I’m going to need one in every color!) you can also save $5 Off your purchase of $20 or more on Select Newell Rubbermaid Brands (PaperMate, Expo Neon Window Markers, Sharpie, Uni-Ball, & Mr. Sketch) at Office Max or Office Depot, and make sure to use your Office Depot rewards!

Hey there! Leave me some comment love!
