I did it! I went to the Thrift Store today! And, I actually found a lot of awesome things! I got there at 9:40, but they didn’t open until 10:00. And guess what? There was a LINE of people waiting for it to open. Can you believe it? It felt like Black Friday!
I didn’t really think I’d find anything good there. Why? Well, I am a little scared of thrift stores. I don’t know why, probably because it seems like a breading ground for germs. Yuck. But, my local thrift store (Deseret Industries) is really clean and nice, and I was able to find some good things.
The kids love the D.I. They play in the toy isle forever, which is fun for them and a little…. yuck… for me.
We just use a lot of this:
Shopping in thrift stores is tricky because you have to look REALLY hard to find anything valuable. And you have to think outside the box. Basically, I picture everything spray painted white, and if it passes the white spray paint test, I call it good.
Here are some of the things I got today.
Christmas Tray $1.50
Wooden Christmas Bowl $.75
Small Wooden Bowl $.75
Another Small Wooden Bowl $.75
Funky Candle Stick Holder $1.00
Banana Hanger $1.00
Picture Frame $1.00 (yes, that’s velvet!)
I spray painted most of the items white and they are outside drying right now. Come back in a few days to see what I did with my thrift store finds.

I had to move past those same "yuck" phobias, but now I'm hooked. You found some great buys, as have I.

That is so funny, That's what I had in mind for Wednesday, but one thing led to another and I never made it there, but I'm pretty sure it's on the list for tomorrow! I can't wait to see what you come up with. . .
