We are moving!!!!
We have had our house under contract to sell for a couple of weeks, so we knew one day, we’d have to live somewhere else… Except, the buyer just contacted us and is pretty excited to move in. So, our moving day is coming MUCH SOONER than we had originally anticipate. And guess what? Once we are out of our house, we still aren’t sure WHERE we are going, so we are moving our stuff into storage and crashing at my parents’ house until we have it all figured out.
As of now, we are planning on building, which is SUPER exciting! And also, SUPER stressful!
So, I haven’t been blogging because, let’s face it, I’m stressed out of my mind.
Please keep following me, though, because guess what?
A new house is like a fresh canvas, ready to be slathered with decorations and all that jazz. And, of course, I’ll share all that “jazz” with you guys when it happens!
So, here’s what I need from you:
Please leave me a comment on this post telling me things you love about your house, things you wish you had in your house, and things you absolutely HATE about your house. I’m designing my own houseplans, and I need some advice of things to do, and things not to do.
Thanks, in advance, for your comments!
And, I promise, I will blog again. But maybe not until I have a house to put all of my crap crafts in.
Ha!
Thanks for supporting my blog!

When I have a “dream” house, I totally want a huge room where all of the clothes are kept and laundry is done. Like one HUGE closet. It is kind of a crazy idea, but I think I would be great at folding laundry if I could fold it and put it away right there, plus then people’s bedrooms wont be cluttered by clothes. Just my crazy idea. Don’t know if it would ever work.

My parents have a drinking fountain in there garage entry way! Best thing ever! Saves so many glasses and if your friend wants ablaze of water they can just go around the corner for a nice cold drink. If it’s something you can’t do now for sure put the plumbing in for it!! I will for sure have one in my house one day!

I love having our big basement room for family gatherings and parties! I also would suggest putting your laundry on the main level or where ever your bedrooms are so you don’t have to haul it down stairs. Also don’t install real wood floors with kids, laminate wood is so much more practical and affordable. And that is my two cents! Good luck!

I would have to say that I actually LOVE “fixer upers” more than a new house. Just my opion… When you walk into a new house you think it better be nice, but when you walk into an older home and it is all fixed up you get that “WOW” factor. Building is great, but adds up fast!! It sucks when you think you have paid for everything and you keep getting bills for the next six months. BJ and I would probably never build again. Now that we got that out of the way, go through lots of homes for sale, new or not, and get lots of ideas from them. Write down all the things you liked and take pictures. Some of my favorite things are: I loved hardwood on all the main walking areas of the house (hallways, entryways, around the carpet, that way your carpet does not get matted down so fast; lockers in the laundry/mud room; double shower heads in the master; heated driveway; I would choose not to face north (ice never melts); bounsroom. I could go on all night. Scope out the neighborhood really good. As much as you would love the house you really want to love the neighbors just as much. Hope this helps, and good luck with it all!!

Oops, I posted that last comment twice, but I do actually love that part of my house the very most, so for what it’s worth that’s how much we love you! Guilt aside I’m excited to see what you do with your new home so I can copy you, because lets face it, now no one will know now!

My favorite part of our house is that all of the bedrooms are on the same level. I also love the fact that all of our living space is upstairs and the bedrooms are downstairs. I thought I would hate that but in reality I love it. It is super hard to heat/cool our upstairs though because it us so open. Anyway, good luck on the house plans!

I am looking to buy a house and have been watching WAY too many of the house buying shows on HGTV. So I have lots of suggestions for you π
Kitchen–everyone seems to think that if you don’t have granite counters, it’s not worth living. I personally want recycled glass counters. And there are beautiful glass tiles for backsplashes.
Laundry–you want laundry on the floor with your bedrooms, not hidden in the basement where you have to lug laundry baskets up and down flights of stairs.
Bath–personal recommendation: stay far, far away from those glass sliding doors on your bath tub. If anyone in the family ends up needing crutches at any point, well, the runners are really uncomfortable if you need to sit on the side of the tub to get in. I speak from experience π
On a related note, since you’ll be starting from scratch, you have a great opportunity to make the house as accessible as possible. Have a bedroom on the main floor. Avoid stairs to the front door. Things like that π
