DIY Stacked Frames

Tutorial

If you are joining me from Studio 5, WELCOME!!! I’m so glad to have you here. New friends are the greatest, and I hope you’ll feel free to check out everything I’ve got going on around here. The “DIY Projects & Tutorials” tab at the top of the page is a great place to start. Please make sure to follow me on Pinterest (click that button ——> on my sidebar) to stay up to date on all of my shenanigans. And, in case you missed me on Studio 5 (my local news station’s lifestyle show), here’s the video.

I love the look of gallery walls. They are so on-trend right now, and I am planning on filling one of my HUGE empty walls with a ton of beautiful frames and photos. One idea I had to make my frames super unique is to do stacked frames. They are so simple, and I want to show you how I made mine.

I got these unfinished frames at Poppy Seed Projects. Since they are unfinished, I got to paint them how I wanted. I chose to do some patterns on these frames, so I painted stripes and polka dots on the back frame, and left the front frame solid

Here’s another example of stacking. I used a large cutout letter and a square board to make this. Also unfinished from Poppy Seed Projects.

These following frames are  a DIY version. I simply stacked frames I had laying around the house.

#1…. I took an IKEA cabinet door from their as-is section, and simply glued an old painted frame on top.

#2… I had a frame with a mat in it, and I glued a smaller frame right on top of the mat.

#3… Another cabinet door from the thrift store, painted, with a frame glued right on top.

And this last frame came in a set from Poppy Seed Projects. It is a set of three moroccan frames. I painted the top and bottom white and then stuck a yellow one in the middle. Super cute. AND, I’m giving one away!!!! All you have to do is fill out the rafflecopter form below!
