DIY personalized laptop {decorate with vinyl} and a GIVEAWAY!!!

Tutorial

Disclosure: I received product in exchange for creating this project and writing this post. All opinions are 100% my own, and I would never recommend any product I wouldn’t use myself…. and I use Expressions Vinyl all the time… see?

This week, I’m heading to my first blogging conference (eeek!) I am so excited to join some of my favorite bloggers for a weekend of learning and fun! I’ll be toting along my new laptop with me, and I wanted to make it cute (of course), so I added a little vinyl to it. This is SO easy, and super cheap, but makes a huge statement. So today, I want to show you how I made my personalized laptop.

I couldn’t decide which color of vinyl I loved most, so I took a poll on instagram. The winner was this color, which looked blue, but is actually the mint indoor vinyl from Expressions Vinyl. I absolutely LOOOVE it.

(P.S… use this link, and code CREATIVEMOM at checkout, and you can save 10% on any Expressions Vinyl order through February 17th. SCORE!)

I started out by measuring my laptop. Then I cut my vinyl on my electronic craft cutter. Yes, I cut it without a mat… see how {here}.

Once my vinyl was cut, I “weeded” out the negative space, or the part I didn’t want. So all I was left with was the cute pattern.

Then, I used some contact paper, and stuck it straight onto my laptop.

Peeling off the contact paper is always the best part!

You may notice there are a few little bubbles or wrinkles in my vinyl. Not to worry, I just took the back of my fingernail, and smoothed them out really fast.

I even used some of my negative space and made this little design by my keyboard.

And that’s it! Such a fun, easy, and inexpensive way to personalize your laptop. This would also work with the back of your tablet, your phone, or anything really.

The total cost of this project was under $2.00 (and I still have vinyl left over). That’s a lot of bang for your buck!

 Now, for the fun part…

A giveaway! You can enter to win a $25 Expressions Vinyl gift card, using the rafflecopter widget below.
